Design Services for Guide Sign Improvements on the NJ Turnpike & GSP, New Jersey
• Performed site visits for numerous sign structure locations on the Garden State Parkway to verify a structure’s existing condition, as well as the suitability of proposed locations for new structures, including site conflicts and site distance requirements.
• Investigated the suitability of existing sign structures to be re-used for this project based on as-built drawings, existing sign panel area, design sign area, and performed structural analysis using LARSA 4D where necessary.
• Coordinated field investigations by in-house survey crews and utility subcontractors and reviewed the lane closure request forms.
• Designed the drilled shaft foundations for each proposed sign structure using hand calculations and STAAD models for sign structure loading, and using Ensoft SHAFT, Ensoft LPILE and FB-Multipier for vertical capacities and lateral deflections.
• Calculated the structural quantities and created an excel spreadsheet to compile the project quantities received from subconsultants into a single cost estimate.
• Developed and drafted contract drawings using Bentley MicroStation, including structural details and details for non-standard foundations.
LIMA Metro Railroad, Lima, Peru
• Checked structural loads for steel canopies, developed SAP2000 models, and optimized the design.
• Designed connections and base plates using MathCAD, including several custom connections for the steel canopies.

Walsh - PTC Mainline Reconstruction A20 to A26, Pennsylvania
• Design temporarily soil nail walls to support the active Pennsylvania Turnpike roadway during excavation for proposed widening using the SNAIL program to check overall wall stability, and hand calculations for design of shotcrete facing.
• Developed and drafted drawings and details for each wall.
• Performed field visits during construction to visually inspect each wall to certify the wall was constructed within tolerances of TYLI design and drawings.
Design Services for Installation of VMS at New & Existing Locations on NJ Turnpike, New Jersey
For construction Contracts B and C:
• Checked the design soil properties and checked the design calculations of the pile or shaft foundations.
• Calculated the structural quantities of the foundations and created an excel spreadsheet to compile the project quantities received from subconsultants into a single cost estimate.
• Developed and drafted several contract drawings, and reviewed the contract drawings for consistency between the various consultants and consistency with the standards of the NJTA.
For construction Contract D:
• Designed overhead sign structures spanning over traffic in both directions of the NJ Turnpike in accordance with the 2010 edition of AASHTO Highway Signs, Luminaries and Traffic Signals.
• Designed tall pedestal foundations for several sign structures spanning over sections of elevated roadway, and applied loading due to the sign structure and wind load on the exposed faces of the pedestals.
• Checked the design soil properties and checked the design calculations of the pile or shaft foundations.
• Calculated the structural quantities of the foundations and created an excel spreadsheet to compile the project quantities received from subconsultants into a single cost estimate.
• Developed and drafted several contract drawings, and reviewed the contract drawings for consistency between the various consultants and consistency with the standards of the NJTA.

• Reviewed structural shop drawings for consistency with the design calculations and contract drawings

Final Design of the 14th Street Viaduct, Hudson County, New Jersey
• Coordinated the design tasks between the TYLI team and the project manager.
• Designed the abutments and retaining walls using ABLRFD, designed the tall retaining walls to support the approach embankment, and used Excel to design several unique components dictated by details from the project architect.
• Created an excel spreadsheet to compile the project quantities and calculate the engineers estimate.
• Prepared contract drawings for CAD technicians to complete as well as drafted retaining wall details using MicroStation.
