EXPERIENCE:

University of Michigan, College of Engineering

Research Assistant Ann Arbor, MI 2009 - 2014
Developed novel experimental techniques to characterize damage evolution in ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) at microscopic and macroscopic length scales. Instructed and mentored undergraduate and graduate students to foster technical competency in fundamental engineering curriculum and to enhance their capabilities in experimental design.
• Created innovative numerical and statistical algorithms to characterize damage in ceramic matrix composites that: (1) provide design engineers a quantitative metric to assess material toughness and (2) establish a relationship between microstructure and cracking to aid in improving performance
• Devised novel, nanoparticle patterning technique that permits in-situ deformation tracking at microscopic length scales and at temperature in excess of 2000°F
• Lead author of five technical publications

General Electric (GE) Aviation

Engineering Intern/Support Contractor Evendale, OH 2012, 2013
Implemented novel, in-situ experimental techniques and conducted failure analysis of mechanical test specimens to strengthen understanding of failure modes in ceramic composites
• Developed numerical algorithm to measure toughness in CMCs, in-situ, using full-field deformation data

Lieutenant, Surface Warfare, United States Navy

Military Instructor/Curriculum Manager Coronado, CA 2007-2009
Provided over 165 hours of formal instruction and interactive training to 14 Marine Corps and Navy units. Lectured on 18 topics covering techniques and procedures for integrating air, land, and sea-based weapons systems in support of military ground operations.
• Successfully managed and instructed five training exercises customarily managed by a senior Marine Corps Officer
• Restructured and improved curriculum for continuum of fire-support coordination courses

Planner and Foreign Military Advisor Camp Pendleton, CA 2006-2007
Supervised nine Marine Corps infantrymen in training over 70 Iraqi Army soldiers in basic...
