Manager - Construction
Serve as a Manager of a $50 million construction operation in the State of Maryland.
As manager, fully responsible for all bottom-line factors affecting construction operations, as well as strategic planning for future success including review of design, permitting, and communities outreach. As a leader, charged with balancing the needs of our stakeholders (customers, contractors, management, and community). We demand the highest level of business practice integrity in achieving our goals, with direct emphasis on safety, and strict adherence to all Federal (PHMSA 49 CFR 192) and State laws as well as company’s policies and procedures. Effective communication was a key success factor to differentiate our operation in the utility industry. Other areas of focus include cost control, project management, and logistics.
Key Achievements
o Successfully manage multiple national contractors working within our Work Management Information System (WMIS) to ensure accurate project scope and billing
o Execute a variety of Engineering projects in relation to the Transmission and Distribution Pipeline Integrity Management Program (TIMP & DIMP). Conducted “Integrity Digs” projects

Managed $20 million of projects including Regulator Stations, Gate Stations and large diameter transmission pipeline
As a senior engineer, responsibilities ranged from managing existing Transmission and Distribution systems to design of new facilities and Plants. This assignment provided the opportunity to increase my management responsibilities and hone contract negotiation skills. My key challenge was finding ways to improve our project delivery process.
Key Achievements
o Initiated the “Project Management” initiative for the Engineering department to ensure good project management practices.
o Designed large scale transmission projects involving “hot tapping” deploying TDW fittings.
o Reduced the overall cost of departmental projects (contractors, materials, etc.) by developing new processes for awarding projects. Established annual project planning meeting with area contractors to overview upcoming projects. Enhanced the procurement through utilizing a “one bid” process.
o Developed “Welding Procedures” for steel pipeline installations
o Designed and managed an array of projects that included water systems, facilities, power generation building, as well as automation projects.
o Ensures contractors’ disputes are equitably resolved on a timely basis.
