WORK & RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant (Ph.D) May 2011 – Present
West Virginia University
Current research project involves an investigation using FEM to determine how thermal movement within an in-service steel I-girder bridge superstructure may have potentially damaged substructure components. Results from FE modeling will be use to substantiate findings documented during a field inspection.
Graduate Research Assistant (MSCE) May 2008 – May 2011
West Virginia University
Research leading toward completion of a Master’s thesis utilized finite element modeling to investigate the effect of thermal loading on the response of an in-service multi-span steel I-girder bridge superstructure.
Undergraduate Researcher Sept. 2006 – May 2008
West Virginia University
Conducted research activities utilizing carbon fiber latex modified concrete (CFLMC) and latex modified concrete (LMC) to enhance the engineering properties of concrete bridge deck overlays.
Primary responsibilities included preparation and load testing of various concrete specimens in accordance with ASTM standards.
Assisted in detailed post-test analysis to determine material behavior and engineering properties of modified concretes.
Undergraduate Worker June 2006 – August 2006
WVU Construction Facilities Center
Responsibilities included preparing carbon fiber composite specimens for load testing and calibration of computer equipment and software.
