Responsible for the planning, coordination, administration, and management of capital improvement program and projects for the Transportation Department. Program management required establishing project schedules and scopes of work to meet fiscal responsibilities, establishing staff workloads, and involved in the consultant and contractor selection process. Involved in the planning and conceptual phases to ensure project requirements and establishing budgets. Program management duties also required holding public meetings, meeting with city council staff and city management, meeting with state DOT and Federal Highway Administration staff, coordinating with utilities and railroads on project coordination. The position was about establishing relationships and effective communications. Supervised up to nine project managers.
Project management included preparing specifications, reviewing plans, and preparing cost estimates for public works projects. Coordinate design activities with engineers, designers, consultants, utility companies, and other agencies and City of Phoenix Departments.
