Nuclear Safety Engineer – New Brunswick Laboratory – Facility Operations Division
• Building/Facility Manager – Accountable for implementation of Technical Safety Requirements including the scheduling and performance of surveillances and Limited Condition of Operation entries and exits. Lead NBL representative for development of new DOE Safety Analysis to successfully downgrade the Hazard Categorization (HC) of the laboratory from a HC-2 to a HC-3 facility. Strategy enabled the laboratory to reduce the facility nuclear footprint by 96%. This achievement will result in cost savings of millions of dollars over the next 5 years of operation.
• Cognizant System Engineer – Responsible for configuration management of Safety Significant systems, initiating actions to correct problems, working with maintenance to troubleshoot complex issues, determining operability of systems with out of specification conditions. Preparer and reviewer of Unreviewed Safety Question Screenings/Determinations.

• Reactivity Management – Developed reactivity management plans compliant with Technical Specifications and fuel reliability rules for routine and non-routine plant maneuvers including control rod exchanges and plant startup and shutdown including control room support for implementation of the plan. Interfaced with core design and analysis engineers based on in-cycle developments.
• Refueling Outage Support – Calculated lifetime of core components for outage planning. Provided refuel outage support for fuel and core component exchanges including fuel shuffles and offloads. Site lead for pre and post outage activates such as fuel receipts and spent fuel pool cleanups.
• Fuel Reliability – Actively monitored core chemistry for fuel defects. Monitored fuel defects for degradation and determining fuel age. Led fail fuel inspection and reconstitution including root cause investigation of fuel defect.
• Special Nuclear Material (SNM) Custodian – Performed annual inventory of SNM. Prepared and reviewed move sheets for movement of SNM.
