Resume

Adam Q. Goodman, P.E.

SUMMARY

Mr. Goodman is currently employed as an Engineer III with AREVA Federal Services LLC and seeking job in the field of civil/structural engineering that compliments my experience and studies in design/analysis. Early nuclear industry experience includes steam generator replacement projects and preparation for supporting walkdowns, design/analysis calculations and modification packages. Recent experience includes design and licensing activities of new plants (i.e. U.S. EPR, ITER) and onsite support for TVA’s Unit 1 Bellefonte Completion Project. He has a working knowledge of a variety of engineering software including ANSYS, CivilFEM, GT STRUDL, SAP2000, AutoCAD and Microstation. He is familiar with concrete design per ACI 318, 349 and ACI/ASME 359, steel design per AISC design specification and building loads per ASCE7. Throughout his time with AREVA, Mr. Goodman has positively displayed a record for results oriented problem solving, safety-aware attention to detail and effective communication.

LICENSURE

Professional Engineer (P.E.), State of North Carolina, Seal No. 037875

EXPERIENCE

AREVA Federal Services LLC

Sept 2007–Present
U.S. EPR Standard NPP
Assignments typically specific to Safety-Related, Seismic Cat I Structures and inclusive of design calculation and licensing document preparation for Design Certification, as well as related COLA and preliminary Detailed Design activities. Involvement in the following:
- Resolution of NRC requests for additional information (RAI).
- Development of US EPR design basis requirements and design criteria documentation.
- Development and documentation of standard guidelines for post-installed and cast-in-place anchorage/baseplate design and design for dynamic impact/impulse loads.
- Development and modifications to full-scale U.S. EPR Nuclear Island static model using ANSYS.
- Demand/Capacity-based selection of U.S. EPR critical structural components/members (i.e. ‘critical sections’) under design basis loading.
- Reduction of design load combinations based on structural demand vs. capacity (from 12k to 200).
- Design of various concrete building sections (reinforced and post-tensioned per ACI 349/359) using ANSYS and post-processing macros/design modules (CivilFEM). Primary preparer of the Reactor Containment Building wall to foundation connection and Spent Fuel Pool walls and slab designs.
- Prepared ANSYS sub-models for mesh refinement, discretization of loading conditions and subsequent section analysis and design.

Jan 2012–April 2013
International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)
Workload consisting of civil-structural engineering tasks performed for support preliminary and final design activities of the ITER facility, an experimental fusion reactor under construction in the South of France. Typical duties include:
- Preparation and review of design/analysis calculations for standard pipe supports and non-standard modularized frame supports using GTSTRUDL per AISC N690 and AWS D1.1 requiring interface with 3D design, pipe stress analysis (ASME B31.1/B31.3) and construction sequencing teams.
- Simplified tank analysis for impulsive and convective anchor loads using GTSTRUDL.
- Preliminary sizing of embedded plate anchoring systems.
- Preparation of building load interface calculations, requiring interface with system and equipment engineers and significant client interaction to manage strict schedule and acceptability of scope and content.

AREVA NP Inc. – New Plants Engineering (NPE)

Mar 2011–October 2011
Bellefonte NPP Completion Project
Typical engineering tasks associated with the preliminary definition of scope for the completion of TVA’s Bellefonte NPP in Hollywood, AL. Assignments included:
- Civil Lead for Make-Up & Purification System – Walkdown package scoping and implementation for piping and pipe supports as input to 10% design packages related to Unit 1 NSSS systems.
- Involved in the development of a 3D axi-symmetric ANSYS model of typical portions of the containment building for ultimate capacity analysis and qualification.

Oct 2009–Nov 2009
RF017 Outage at V.C. Summer NPP
Steam generator manway/handhole closures crew.
