PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE

I am a passionate engineer-in-training with nearly three years of work experience in the civil, environmental and water resources engineering field. My experience has focused on the mathematical modeling of municipal potable, storm and sewer water conveyance systems. I am pursuing a career path with a reputable organization in Portland, Oregon as a Civil Engineer-In-Training that will further develop my professional experience in civil/environmental and water resources engineering. I am enthused to contribute my strong mathematical analytical, numerical problem solving and communication skills in civil and environmental engineering, surface and sub-surface hydrology and fluid dynamics.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Portland Community College (PCC) Sep 2013-Mar 2015
Mathematics Instructor

• Instructed students with approved course outcome guides developed by college-wide subject area faculty.
• Assessed and graded student achievement of learning outcomes.
• Created an inclusive atmosphere to help all my students participate in class discussions.

Murray, Smith and Associate (MSA) Dec 2013 – July 2014
Water Resources Engineering Designer – Hydraulic Modeler

• Developed hydraulic models for potable water, sanitary sewer and stormwater conveyance systems based in XPSWMM engine within GIS for potable, sewer and stormwater systems in the Cities of Wilsonville, Bend, Redmond, Pendleton, Pasco and Kelso amongst others.
• Modeled complex systems that included pump stations, wet wells, reservoirs, tanks, well-fields, and outfalls.
• Gathered and analyzed water use data to forecast water demand and infer dry-weather flow sub-basin allocation as well as wet-weather (I&I) flows based on the NRCS regional soil class and hydrologic conditions.
• Collected, organized and processed rainfall data acquired from the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA) as well as in-pipe flow meter data to establish and load the appropriate model inputs.
• Calibrated hydraulic models to best fit the flow monitor data and to insure a high precision forecast.
• Generated maps illustrating hydraulic system deficiencies, data requests and system overviews.
• Developed technical reports describing modeled hydraulic system deficiencies, available capacities and system improvement recommendations.
• Reviewed lateral Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) recordings in the effort to identify and address rainfall-derived Infiltration and Inflow (I&I) in the Middle Hillsdale and Pendleton areas in South-West Portland.
• Read Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) maps to identify physical system characteristics and locations.
• Managed projects ensuring delivery to time, quality and budget.
• Worked as part of a team involved in a variety of projects deal with hydraulic system performance and to help the design of system improvements and enhancements.

City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) July 2011- Aug 2012
Community Service Aide II - Fanno and Tryon Creeks Engineering Intern
• Conducted a study assessing sediment loading from unimproved streets to adjacent streams within the Tryon Creek watershed. Developed work-plans, field forms and classification strategy, conducted field surveys, classified attributes, collected field data, and wrote detailed reports illustrating the conditions of the unimproved street surfaces and the potential impact of sediment loading from these surfaces on adjacent streams.
• Developed and managed ArcMap/ GIS databases and produced maps illustrating specific details for many projects exhibited at community education and awareness events.
• Contributed my multitasking skills in many field activities including stream surveying, piezometer monitoring, site construction, stream restoration monitoring and electro-shock fish sampling.
Civil and Environmental Engineering Graduate Teaching Assistant 2012
• Provided weekly instructional assistance to students, developed coursework and graded homework for undergraduate and graduate level courses including fate and transport of toxins in the environment, water resources engineering and intro to civil and environmental engineering.
• Developed a passion for teaching and demonstrated the ability to communicate complicated...
