POS Software Engineer – Passport Application 2006-Present
Develop and support the Passport Point-of-Sale retail application; a full service retail and fuel dispensary management solution installed in over 30,000 convenience store systems across the United States.
• Designed and developed new features for the Passport product; which included services, user interfaces, and internal functionality. Primary technologies used in these roles were C#, C++, VB and SQL.
• Resolved an annual average of 100 defects in 9 major versions of the passport project; requiring familiarity with multiple branches of code and customer specific features. The severity of these issues ranged from minor cosmetic changes to critical time sensitive emergencies; any of these could require working with other sub-system teams within the organization or with the retail level customers directly.

Provided software support for the IBM self-checkout application. Responsible for analyzing and resolving any software issues reported by customers or found during in-house testing. Primary technology used in this role is C++, developed using the Visual Studio 6 and Visual Studio.NET development environments.
• Analyzed reported customer issues with IBM self-checkout software; this required familiarity with multiple customer specific code bases and configuration files. Promptly resolved identified issues either through code changes or configuration modifications.
• Supported efforts to integrate IBM self-checkout hardware with Wal-Mart self-checkout software. Provided IBM integration team with expertise on the architecture and operation of the Wal-Mart self-checkout software.


NCR Corporation, Duluth, GA 1999-2003
Principle Software Engineer – Retail Solutions Group 2001-2003
Part of team responsible for all software development and support of the NCR Fastlane self-checkout system. Primary responsibility on this team was the design, development and support of all new releases of the Remote Approval application. The majority of application development was accomplished using Visual C++ and MFC, however a number of test utilities were written using Visual Basic 6.0.
• Designed and implemented user interface and back end logic for the NCR Remote Approval (RAP) 3.0 application. This application allowed a single user to remotely monitor multiple self-checkout stations, as well as the capacity to resolve item specific alerts. NCR human factors studies indicated it was well received by users, citing increased speed, ease of operation and visually appealing graphics.
• Considered in-house expert for the RAP application. Responsible for providing peers with technical point of contact as well as insuring quality control by reviewing any proposed modifications to the application code base.
• Assisted software support team in resolving defects found during integration and pre-release testing of the Fastlane 3.0 and RAP 3.0 applications. Personally resolved over 60 defects while still fulfilling RAP 3.0.x development commitments.
• Designed and developed nine new features for three RAP point releases over an eight month period; all features met schedule goals and had a low defect count.
