Manage, motivate, and lead a large group of unionized employees to repair freight cars while leading the maintenance of emergency equipment and responding to emergency situations and service interruptions. Monitoring shop performances on a daily basis by reviewing process variable trends, quality results, and Key Performance Indicators.
Key Achievements:
*Incorporated as well as leading Kaizen events with LEAN manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve processes, and create a safer work environment.
* Increased production repairs from 2 freight cars per day to 4 freight cars per day (50% increase rate).
* Reduced repair cost per car from $14,109 to $7,949 (40% decrease rate).
* Performed production flow charts, time studies analysis and value stream maps in order to eliminate bottleneck areas and identify opportunities for continuous improvements.
* Increased the standard workbooks throughout the shop from 0% to 100% by showing the value in reducing variability and risk.
* Trained, led implementation and developed standardized documents for 5s with an average sustain rate of 90% throughout the production line. This has led to a reduction of waste, better quality, continuous flow, standardized processes and improved morale due to ownership and pride.
* Trained Standard Work and VSM Development throughout Car Shop.
* Led the development of 7 separate standard work processes. The standards have been implemented at several locations.
