EXPERIENCE

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, (May 2007 – Present)
Mechanical Design Engineer AMP (Classified program, Aug. ‘09 – Present):
Initially brought on to the program to help reconcile a stalemated prime-to-sub relationship. Quickly established open communication lines between our internal engineering team and a formidable subcontractor. Also formed and subsequently managed a team of design engineers that eventually took the program thru the developmental phase (in collaboration with the subcontractor), and later took ownership of the design and are presently sustaining flight production activities.

Internal Research and Development project (May ’07 – Apr ‘09):
Assigned to the project during the conceptual phase, was tasked to take a primitive concept for a phased-array antenna and find a way to build it. This required extensive hands-on work with (previously unfamiliar) advanced soldering techniques. Working with Northrop’s advanced solder shop, designed the tooling and processes necessary to complete a prototype model of a novel phased-array antenna assembly. The successful completion of this experimental assembly is currently being incorporated into a flight program (details are classified).

Advanced Extremely High Frequency program (May ’07 – Apr ‘09):
Successor to Milstar (the US military’s current constellation of communication satellites), had a unique opportunity as a ‘less-experienced’ engineer to act as a sustaining Responsible Design Engineer on a high profile Department of Defense program. Major tasks involved dispositioning discrepant flight hardware, investigating root causes behind unexpected failures and discrepancies, and developing corrective actions to prevent these unexpected events.

Product Engineer in the Electrical Products Department (Feb – May ‘07):
Utilized Pro/E CAD software to assist project design engineers in modeling components of integrated microwave assemblies (IMA’s), including laser-weld templates, handling fixtures, rework shields, cable and harness routing, etc. Responsible for making design decisions on many of these components which required frequent interaction with Responsible Design Engineers, electrical and manufacturing engineers, as well as others.
