CAREER SUMMARY

I am an automotive design and development engineer with management experience. I began a twenty year career at Ford Motor Company starting with their two year engineering training program. Post-training assignments included product design and development in medium and heavy commercial truck engineering designing non-drive axles, steering system applications and resolving customer issues with the product. Promoted into management to lead team on engine re-powering of Ford’s medium and heavy vehicles, develop new air brake system designs and support several product launches at assembly plants culminating in the successful launch of the 2000MY Ford Excursion SUV. Accepted buy-out package offer in 2007 and left Ford.

Vehicle engineer at Navistar Truck and Engine working on overseas applications of their heavy truck commercial products. Promoted to management within one year to lead team of engineers in testing and validation of several programs, benchmarking of foreign competition and homologating US compliant product into those markets.

Currently assigned to Navistar Defense as an engineering program manager following two years as a technical specialist covering chassis design, vehicle test and prototype build activities. Programs worked on include FLTV, GMV & SOTV.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Lead cross-functional engineering team to launch the 2000MY Ford Excursion at vehicle assembly plant with minimum end-of-line issues.
• Conducted engineering testing, development and validation programs for several multi-million dollar commercial vehicle programs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

NAVISTAR DEFENSE, LLC, Madison Heights, Michigan 2011-Present

EPM, Vehicle Engineering Manager/Technical Specialist, Navistar Defense Engineering
Designed DVP and test plan for rear wheel steer application on an existing wheeled military vehicle. Assigned to GMV program to determine tire and wheel selections to meet VCI requirements, assist on human factors engineering and support marketing in building vehicle prototypes for foreign sales expeditions.

Temporary assignment to commercial truck division to assist in developing engineering documentation for company’s entry into the refuse truck retail sales markets.

Currently assigned as an Engineering Program Manager on two foreign governments post design services programs.


NAVISTAR, INC, Fort Wayne, Indiana 2008-2011

Senior Manager, Vehicle Engineering, Export Global Truck.
Responsible for guiding program cross-functional engineering team through design and development processes for homologating North American heavy truck product content for sale in foreign markets. Conducted program gate reviews and achieved planned sign-off dates. Formulated test plans, budgets, arranged and managed prototype build and testing schedules, problem resolution, all directed to moving the team forward to a successful product sign-off and launch event.


MAGNA STEYR NORTH AMERICA, Troy, Michigan 2007-2008

Vehicle Development Manager, Commercial Truck Program. Contract position.
Ground-up development and production release of multi-million dollar vehicle design and validation plan for a new medium truck for a major commercial truck manufacturing customer, including experimental vehicle specification, test selection, test sourcing, budgeting and timing responsibilities. Program subsequently cancelled by customer.
