SUMMARY
An accomplished Criticality Safety Specialist with extensive background in Nuclear Safety Analysis, Radiation Shielding, Heat Transfer and Thermal Hydraulics. I have more than 15 years of experience in Nuclear Safety Analysis at various Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission sites and six years of experience in thermal hydraulics and heat transfer of defense nuclear reactors at the Savannah River Site. My nuclear safety experience has been in the areas of research reactor fuel receipt and storage, use of burnup credit in handling and storage of spent fuel assemblies, receipt and storage of shipping packages containing fissionable material, chemical separations of fissionable material, fissionable material handling, processing, and transfer, nuclear waste characterization using Non-Destructive Analysis, remediation, compaction, storage, and disposal. Proven ability to lead and manage a team of Engineers and multiple projects.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Washington Safety Management Solutions, LLC, Aiken, SC 1997 – 2010

Nuclear Criticality Safety Specialist
• Performed various nuclear safety evaluations in support of various facilities at the Savannah River Site, Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, and Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site. Paducah Gaseous Diffusion and Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant are uranium enrichment facilities. Activities included:
- Performing consolidated hazard evaluation of each facility,
- Identification of nuclear and non-nuclear hazards,
- Determination of barriers that would mitigate an accident,
- Reviewing and commenting on revisions of Documented Safety Analysis, Technical Safety Requirements, Justification for Continued Operations, and Unreviewed Safety Question,
- Providing technical support to DSA, TSRs, BIO, and USQ implementation,
- Providing technical support for day-to-day operations,
- Providing regulatory compliance support related to hazard categorization of facilities,
- Providing support for indentifying and implementing corrective actions,
- Providing support related to implementation of DOE/NRC directives and standards.
• Lead criticality safety engineer for the solid and liquid nuclear waste facilities at the Savannah River Site. Activities included characterization of radioactive solid waste using Non-Destructive Analysis, remediation, compaction, storage, and disposal. Chemical processing and disposal of radioactive liquid waste using various technologies.
• Activities in Portsmouth and Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plants included modeling of various UF6 enrichment components using SCALE/KENO to determine the criticality safety operating limit for each component.
• SCALE/MCNP Computer Code Cognizant Technical Function for the LINUX Workstation Cluster at WSMS. Activities included installing the updates provided by the RISCC on the LINUX Cluster, running tests provided by RSICC, and verifying and documenting the results, notification of criticality safety Engineers of potential impacts, writing necessary scripts, and marinating the up-to-date validation documents for the LINUX Cluster.
• As a validation specialist, provided support for validation of the LINUX Workstation Cluster for systems containing various nuclides.
• Provided training/mentoring support for junior criticality safety engineers in criticality safety requirements and implementation.

Westinghouse Savannah River Company, Aiken, SC 1989 – 1996

Nuclear Safety Engineer
• Performed various thermal hydraulics experiments and simulations using FIDAP and FLOW3D computer codes in support of defense nuclear reactors loss of coolant accident experiment testing at SRS.
• Performed heat transfer simulation using FIDAP computer code of various nuclear fuel canisters and vault arrangement for interim dry storage of research reactor spent nuclear fuels at SRS.
